Following the mini walk and lovely barbecue that Ian had cooked after Patsy and Derek had prepared it, there was a bit of a dash over to Dee Sailing Club in Thurstaston for the return of the Kayak Challenge. This event takes place every year, teams kayak from New Brighton to Hilbre island and return to Thurstaston.
This year Mike and Gill very kindly decided they would give us 50% of all the sponsorship raised. So on their arrival at 7 PM Ian cooked another barbecue this time for over 150 people, as 90 kayaks took part and friends and family were there to see them arrive. It was a spectacular sight watching them all kayaking back down the River Dee!
It proved to be an exhausting, very hot, but totally enjoyable day and hopefully when all the monies have come in a very successful one for the charity!
